Yet Another Compilation

Dear readers,

We apologize for not updating this blog as often as we probably should. Unfortunately, there just isn’t a whole lot of noteworthy news at the moment. All that’s happening are remakes, “re-imaginings,” and toy movies, and we certainly don’t want to update just for the sake of updating, in effect, wasting both your time and ours. There are a few things of note, however, so here goes:

  • Liked Let the Right One In? Good, because, according to Moviehole, an American director is about to ruin it. Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) is set to direct it. It’s supposed to be called Let Me In. Isn’t that just offensive? I think yes.
  • Festival season is upon us! Outfest started on July 9 and ends July 19. Unfortunately, I’m finding about this too late. Comic-Con is July 23 - 26. Dudes were freaking out about the estrogen-heavy crowd that the new Twilight film would inevitably attract. Those concerns have since been relieved. We’ve got Toronto Film Fest September 10 - 19, which opens with a biopic about the life of Darwin. Exciting! The 57th San Sebastian International Film Festival runs September 18-26, 2009. Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds is set to open the Zabaltegi-Pearls section of the fest, and among the many others is Ang Lee’s Taking Woodstock, which I’m especially excited about. Even though I don’t care about Woodstock. And Austin’s own Fantastic Fest is September 24 - October 1 (might be there!) and Austin Film Festival is October 22 - 29 (will be there). Mark your calendars!
  • Speaking of comic books (graphic novels?), Movieline interviewed O.C. star/nerd/cutie Adam Brody about…well, his career, basically. It’s interesting.
  • Lindsay Lohan’s new show, Labor Pains, will not save her career.

Also of note, our show this week will center around the genre of horror. More details coming soon!
